The Cleveland Museum of Art The Cleveland Museum of Art Presents Virtual MIX: Move News Release FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wednesday, January 27, 2021 Kelley Notaro Schreiber The Cleveland Museum of Art [email protected] 216-707-6898 Event features a virtual dance tour of the galleries, artist-created visuals and a live DJ set Cleveland (January 27, 2021)—Virtual MIX at CMA returns Friday, February 5, from 8 to 9 p.m. EST with MIX: Move. Experience various art periods and styles from the Cleveland Museum of Art’s collection in a whole new way—as points of inspiration for dancing and creative play. Featuring a virtual dancing tour through the galleries with movement and performance artist Marcia Custer , this community dance experience will celebrate all bodies, experience levels and identities, and [1] aims to liberate, connect and re-energize everyone in the depths of winter. The event also features magical green-screen visuals by artist Ben Oblivion and a live DJ set by Haley [2] Himiko Hudson Morris . [3] The CMA encourages you to wear something colorful and/or inspired by your favorite work of art. Share photos of your MIX vibe using #MIXatCMA and #museumfromhome. Get ready for the event with a MIX: Move virtual tool kit featuring a Spotify music playlist by the DJ, virtual Zoom backgrounds designed by Oblivion, a themed cocktail recipe, an online collection tour, artist bios and a list of upcoming virtual events. The CMA is a leader in the use of technology to enhance the visitor experience both on-site and online. MIX: Move is part of the museum’s free, dynamic digital initiative Home Is Where the Art Is , which [4] showcases the museum’s globally recognized digital resources and offers a variety of newly created fun and engaging programs for people of all ages. With this initiative, the CMA has leveraged technology to bring works of art to people, responding to changing needs in new, enriching and innovative ways. These sustainable digital experiences continue to complement the in-person museum experience now that the CMA has reopened. Cory discusses how she developed her story for the exhibition Stories from Storage . Cory’s talk focuses [11] particular attention on a sculpture from the della Robbia school, Christ and the Samaritan Woman at the Well , revealing mysteries and problems that our visitors otherwise would not have the opportunity to [12] see or learn about.
