Farmers market returns
Affordable, healthy food options return to Sun-
set Park every Thursday from 8 am to 5 pm, thanks
to the return of Lutheran HealthCare and Harvest
Home Farmer’s Market on July 8.
Running through Nov. 18, the open air market
features farm fresh vegetables, seasonal fruits, or-
ganic baked goods and ethnic products from New
York farmers. Health information and screenings are
also available at the market. Most meal and bene-
fit programs like WIC, EBT and Senior’s Farmers
Market are accepted for payment.
Lutheran’s farmer’s market is part of a larger effort
to “go green” across the Lutheran facility. In 2008,
Lutheran HealthCare created a system-wide Green
Team to assist in operating in an environmentally
sound manner, most recently including a lighting ret-
rofit that will save $180,000 anually and reduce its
carbon footprint by 1.8 million pounds per year.
