Shariful Islam, PhD Assistant Professor, Department of International Relations, University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. Abstract This article tries to conceptualize Blue Economy and Blue Economy Diplomacy in Bangladesh. It argues that the future of Bangladesh holds on the pursuit of BE objectives. In light of the increased BE challenges, i.e. piracy, IUU fishing, Bangladesh cannot ensure the proper utilization of BE potentials. In this context, Bangladesh needs cooperation from other states and non-state actors. The paper argues that BED will be essential to execute the BE goals in Bangladesh. In this context, the proper conceptualization of both BE and 1 This article has been adapted from author’s PhD thesis, titled, Blue Economy Diplomacy for Bangladesh: Contexts, Opportunities and Challenges.
