The "Ashburian" was fortunate to have the competent, imaginative, and — dependably crazy services of the following department heads: Sports Anne- Marie Baribeau, Photography — Adam Auer. Coffee Break Entertainment — Andrew Cole. Alice Barton managed to produce a volume of questionable poetry on the yearbook room typewriter while she waited for her next assignment. When she left for summer camp after giving us her first days of vacation, we missed her reliable willingness to do whatever was necessary to help production. Zoe Quinn-Phillips strode gracefully into our lives to produce most of the layout in this book. She was under no technical obligation to suffer the heat, humidity, ridiculous hours, bad jokes, loud music, salmonella salads, frustration and fatigue which accompanied her commitment to this "Ashburian". hesitate to speak the I whole truth about Rebecca Sandiford, editor-in-chief. She will also be next year's "Ashburian" editor and if 1 tell her now how practically perfect she has been to work with, her ego may inflate to unattractive proportions. Rebecca's honesty is natural, her sense of responsibility is real, her jokes are not always bad, and she has demonstrated the admirable ability to accept the blame for everything. All of these qualities combine to overshadow the fact that her method of imbibing Diet Pepsi is less than tasteful. Thank you Rebecca. Uancy ]owett. Staff Advisor This is Ashbury's Centennial Yearbook. (Really, if you had to be told, I'm afraid I'll feel obliged to slap you upside the head...It's too bad for me. and lucky for you that I'm a pacifist.) It has been a real challenge and a bucket of fun. Truly. And for once I'm not being sarcastic! think with the combined efforts of a few talented and dedicated I people, the resulting book you hold in your hands presents an overview of Ashbury College and its history. The old pictures, in contrast with recent ones, help provide a clearer sense of the context of the school that we all attend daily. The 100 years of Ashbury College meant little to me in a personal sense until I had spent several hours in the Archives... Some of the pictures found up there were eerie in their uncanny similarity to some of this year's photos. While a lot of things change, most things don't change, at least not substantially. Thanks to Melanie Quevillon and Mike Valiquette for living in the Archives for two days although no one will ever know just how much time they spent looking at old pictures of Mr. Gray and laughing, instead of finding what we needed.,. Many thanks also to Robbie Nelms who fueled the creative energy in the Yearbook room (darned near torched Robbie's drawings appear throughout it). the book, although he cannot take responsibility for the cheapo doctoring of Sean Penn.
