Message from the Chair of the Board of Trustees
Dear Friends of Archmere,
I am pleased to present the 2015-2016 Archmere Academy Honor Roll of Donors.
Archmere’s success continues to depend upon a collaboration of individuals and families
who contribute their time, talent, and financial resources to the ongoing operations of
the school. On behalf of the entire Board of Trustees, I thank everyone who supports
Archmere for your ongoing commitment. Your support is a direct investment in our
students and their futures.
Like all independent schools, tuition revenue alone does not allow Archmere to
accomplish its mission of cultivating empathetic leaders – young men and women
prepared for every good work. Annual giving is crucial to ensuring the Archmere
experience we treasure so dearly. Your gifts directly support the people and programs
that make Archmere such a special place – premiere academics, small classes, advanced
technology, athletics, and visual/performing arts as well as our scholarship and
financial aid programs. While our Archmere Fund dollars raised and our endowment returns have increased each year in recent years,
unfortunately our families’ demonstrated financial need has also increased, as have operating expenses directly related to maintaining
an excellent faculty and staff.
As I am sure you are aware, we are in the midst of a major campaign for the long overdue improvements to Saint Norbert Hall. As
part of that Comprehensive Campaign, we have also raised approximately $1.6 million to expand the Archmere endowment fund, and
approximately $5 million in support of the $8.5 million goal for the renovations of Saint Norbert Hall. We began this campaign initially
by speaking to some of our leadership donors and community foundations, and recently launched our public campaign in April of this
year. If you have not already made your own gift, we ask that you consider making a financial commitment at a level appropriate for you
and your family. No gift is too small, and all gifts are important to the fundraising effort. We MUST have a high level of participation
from members of the Archmere community in order to demonstrate commitment to other donors, particularly foundations, who
have been generous to Archmere in the past. Foundations will look to the school community’s level of participation before making an
additional significant contribution to the project.
Our success is due to the time, commitment, and dedication shown by an army of volunteers - parents, alumni, trustees, teachers,
administrators, and other friends of Archmere. You have made this possible. Thank you! In particular I’d like to thank Anne Buckley
PP ’04, ’09, ’11, ’16, Bill Mock CP ’17, and John Nowaczyk ’87, CP ’18, for their tremendous leadership of the Mothers’ Guild,
Fathers’ Club, and Alumni Association, which resulted in yet another successful fundraising year. Further, I am pleased to announce
that B. Christopher Dougherty ’85 will assume the 2016-2017 role of Advancement Committee Chair for the Board of Trustees. Chris
is a very engaged volunteer and member of the Board, and together with the Office of Institutional Advancement staff, we are looking
forward to working with him to meet the ambitious goals of this next fiscal year.
