Enroth, H-Broth. The habit, leaf areolation, and the ahaxially comb. nov. Basionym: Thamnium capense strongly toothed costa clearly indicate the generic Broth. & Dix. in Dix., Bull. Torrey Bot. Club position of Thamnobryum capense (Broth. & Dix.) 43: 71. 1 f. 2. 1916. Porothamnium capense Enroth. (Broth. & Dix.) Sim, Trans. Hoy. Soc. South Sim (1926) cited a specimen (If bod 285, NYS) Africa 15: 404. 1926. TYPE: South Africa. from Inanda, Natal in eastern South Africa. I have “Habitat: in packing from Cape Town, 710, not seen that specimen, but Sim’s illustrations clearly communicated by G. Webster” (Dixon, 1916) represent this species; he had also examined the (holotype, BM not seen; isotype, H-Broth, “ex type material deposited in Dixon’s herbarium at BM. herb. II. N. Dixon”). Illustrations: Dixon (1916: pi. 1, fig. 2); Sim (1926: 404). Literature Cited De Sloover (1983) noted that Porothamnium De Sloover, J. L. 1983. Note de bryologie africaine. XII.
