This is an unannotated compilation of lexical data collected from ten Haya speakers at the University of Daressalaam during March 2004. We worked with a total of ten informants, here labelled H01 through H10. H01 Female, 27 years, born/raised in Bukoba H02 Male, 37 years, born/raised in Bukoba H03 Male, 24 years, born/raised in Bukoba H04 Male, 50 years, born/raised in Bukoba H05 Female, 26 years, born/raised in Dar es Salaam H06 Female, 30 years, born/raised in Dar es Salaam H07 Male, 33 years, born/raised in Bukoba H08 Female, 41 years, born in Bukoba, raised in Kanyigo H09 Male, 46 years, born/raised in Bukoba H10 Male, 28 years, born/raised in Bukoba Our informants were asked to fill in a questionnaire in writing. We had two versions of this questionnaire. List A had 687 items in English, while List B had 616 items in Swahili and English. Five informants (H01-H05) filled in List A, while five other informants (H06-H10) filled in list B. The filled-in questionnaires were then typed into a computer-readable format, and later also proof-read. Thus presented here are our informants’ hand- written lists, though re-transcribed into a nicely typed (and more readable) format. The lexical data contained in the wordlists are given here as they were given to us by our informants. Thus we present these lists with warts and all. There are, for instance, no tone markings. There are also several misspellings in our informants’ entries (as well as our original questionnaires!). The lists also contain erroneous items, being the result of misunderstandings, misreadings, guess-works, and so on and soforth. An annotated and fully commented version will be presented elsewhere. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS The financial support for this comes from Vetenskapsrådet, and was provided to us via Prof. Karsten Legère at Göteborg University. During the entire data collection process we had invaluable help from Prof. Henry Muzale, University of Daressalaam, while the re-transcription of our informants’ hand- writing into a computer-readable format was made by Mr Florian Kimolo, also at the University of Daressalaam.
