After being located at New York University, Vanderbilt University, and Miami University, the League moved in 2014 to Hamilton, Ohio. The purposes of the League are to initiate, improve and extend the study of classical languages and civilizations, to supplement and reinforce the activities of other classical organizations, and to advance and articulate the cause of liberal education. To attain these purposes the American Classical League provides a variety of services to both members and non-members:  The Teaching Materials and Resource Center, which publishes and provides hundreds of teaching aids for teachers and students of the Classics at all levels;  The Classical Outlook, a triennial journal, to help sustain the professional effectiveness of its members;  The ACL Newsletter, which provides timely and useful information about Classical activities;  the National Junior Classical League and Senior Classical League, which provide a bond of unity for thousands of high school and college Latin students in the United States;  The National Office for the Promotion of Latin in the schools;  A national job placement service for high school Latin teachers;  The ACL Institute, an annual meeting and conference to promote excellence in teaching of Latin and the Classics;  Grant and Scholarship Programs, which assist the academic pursuits of Latin teachers and students at the elementary, secondary and collegiate levels;  The National Latin Exam for high school Latin students;  The National Greek Exam for students of Greek;  The Excellence Through Classics Committee for Elementary/Middle Levels to assist those who teach the Classics to younger students;  The National Mythology Exam for elementary and middle school students;  as well as numerous other committees actively engaged in strengthening and fostering our Greco- Roman heritage. The American Classical League has been and continues working diligently to promote Classics in our schools and lives, BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP. As a non-profit organization, The American Classical League depends financially upon membership dues and sales of its teaching materials. Membership is open to any person who is committed to the preservation and advancement of our classical heritage. Please join or continue to sustain our common obligation to our Classical roots. Membership includes a one-year subscription to The Classical Outlook, the ACL Newsletter and a discount from the Teaching Materials and Resource Center. Most importantly, do what you can in your own area to promote the cause of Latin, Greek, and Classics, and reach out to us with both your struggles and successes. To inquire about membership in the ACL, go to www.aclclassics.org or call the office at 513-529-7741. 2 Letter from the TMRC Director The Teaching Materials and Resource Center is always interested in reviewing teaching materials which you have developed or which are published elsewhere. Materials may range from kindergarten through college. We are especially eager to examine teacher developed materials, so don’t be bashful. We especially like to see:  Original Latin that can be used to develop reading proficiency skills for lower and intermediate students;  Resources to aid the teaching of any aspect of Roman life or mythology;  How-to manuals for teaching any Classical subject in a new, innovative, and effective way;  Guides to effectively and appropriately incorporating technology in the Latin classroom;  Teaching Common Core standards through the teaching of Latin, Greek, and Classics;  Interdisciplinary units that can easily be incorporated into a teacher’s routine. Send materials or information about materials to: The American Classical League 860 NW Washington Blvd. Suite A Hamilton, OH 45013 ATTN: Todd Wegenhart, TMRC or email me at [email protected]. Also, as returning ACL members have probably also noticed, this is a big year for the TMRC Catalog – we’ve updated the format, design, layout, and structure in an effort make the catalog more accessible and user-friendly. Soon, we hope to have a digital version of the print catalog available on the ACL website in addition to the online store. As we proceed in coming years, we hope to be able to rely more on the online store over the full print catalog so that we can print fewer copies of the catalog to make the TMRC more cost efficient. With any redesign project of this type, mistakes are bound to happen. If you notice any typos or errors, please send them to me at the email address above. Likewise, if you notice anything that could be changed in the index, or simply suggestions to make the index more usable, please let me know. -Todd A.
