In this short report I deal with a new specific transfer and two new specific synonymies on the family Gnaphosidae from Japan. I wish to express my sincere thanks to Dr. M. Grasshoff, Senckenberg Museum, Frankfurt am Main, for loaning the type specimen of Drassodes rotundifoveatus. Sergiolus hosiziro (Yaginuma, 1960) comb. nov. Poecilochroa hosiziro Yaginuma, 1960, p. 121, fig. 100(4), pl. 56 (fig. 331), append. 7; Brignoli, 1983, p. 575; Yaginuma, 1986, p. 191, fig. 106(2), pl. 51 (fig. 5); Kamura, 1986, p. 10, figs. 1-9; Platnick, 1989, p. 482; Chikuni, 1989, pp. 118 (fig. 4), 249; Yaginuma et al., 1990, p. 271; Platnick, 1993, p. 663. For other literature see Platnick (1989, 1993). Poecilochroa hosiziro Yaginuma, 1960 has been treated under the genus Poecilo- chroa Westring, 1874 since the original description. This genus is related to the genus Sergiolus Simon, 1891. Although Ubick and Roth (1973) and Kaston (1976, 1981) regarded Sergiolus as a junior synonym of Poecilochroa, Platnick and Shadab (1981) considered that Sergiolus is an independent genus from Poecilochroa based on the differences of male palp and female genitalia between them; in Poecilochroa male palp lacks conductor, while it is 'present in Sergiolus, and in Poecilochroa female genitalia has modified spermathecal bases, but such structure is not found in Sergiolus. The condi- tions of male palp and female genitalia of Poecilochroa hosiziro (see Kamura 1986, figs. 6, 7, 9) are agree with those of Sergiolus. Urozelotes rusticus (L. Kamura Drassodes pater Bosenberg et Strand, 1906, p. 119, pl. 16 (fig. 483) (holotype not examined); Yaginuma et al., 1990, p. 270. SYN. NOV. Drassodes rotundifoveatus Bosenberg et Strand, 1906, p. 120, pl. 16 (fig. 484) (holotype from Kompira, Saga Pref., in Senckenberg Museum, Frankfurt am Main, No. 2840, examined) ; Yaginuma et al., 1990, p. 270. SYN. NOV. For other literature see Roewer (1954), Bonnet (1959) and Platnick (1989, 1993, 1997). Judging from the original description of Drassodes pater Bosenberg et Strand, 1906, this species is conspecific with Urozelotes rusticus (L. Koch, 1872). The shapes of male palpal bulb and retrolateral tibial apophysis in the illustrations are conclusive. The examination of the type specimen of Drassodes rotundifoveatus Bosenberg et Strand, 1906 revealed that the specimen is an immature female. I considered it is conspecific with Urozelotes rusticus.
