UNIVERSITY AUTHORITIES ANNAMALAI UNIVERSITY Election of Twelve Members to the Senate by the Registered Graduates Constituency. (B2/580/2010.) No. VI-3(b)/1/2011. It is hereby notified by direction of the Vice-Chancellor that under Section 15, Class II (Amended) other Members, Sub-clause (1) of the Annamalai University Act of 1928, an Election will be held to elect TWELVE Members to the Senate by the Registered Graduates from among themselves according to the principles of proportional representation by means of single transferable vote. The following programme of Election is notified for the information of the Registered Graduates of the Annamalai University whose names are on the Register of Graduates within Tamil Nadu State and the Union Territory of Pondicherry. PROGRAMME OF DATES FOR THE ELECTION 1. Notification calling for Nominations : 22-12-2010 (Stat. I of Chapter VII) (P.40) Wednesday 2. Last date for receipt of Nominations : 31-12-2010 (Stat. 19 of Chapter VII 10 days after Friday Publication) (P.40) 4.00 p.m. 3. Scrutiny and Publication of List of persons : 31-12-2010 validly nominated Friday 4.30 p.m. 4. Last date for withdrawal of Nominations : 07-01-2011 [Stat. 21 (i) 5 clear days] (P.40) Friday 4.00 p.m. 5. Publication of final list of valid nominations : 07-01-2011 Friday 4.30 p.m. 6. Issue of voting papers, if necessary : 21-01-2011 (Stat. 28 & 29 - 14 days before poll) (P.44) Friday 7. Scrutiny and Counting of Votes : 08-02-2011 Tuesday 11.00 a.m. Each elector shall be at liberty to nominate a qualified person to fill the 12 seats on the Senate. Every nomination shall be made by an elector in writing and shall be seconded in writing by another elector. Every such nomination shall be accompanied by the consent in writing of the nominee agreeing to serve on the Senate, and must reach the Registrar not later than 4.00 p.m. on Friday the 31st December 2010. According to the amendments to the Annamalai University Act, 1928 issued by the Government of Tamil Nadu in their Gazette No. 728, dated 6th December 1998, any person who has completed two terms of three years each, continuously in any one or two of the following authorities of the University namely:— (i) the Senate (ii) the Academic Council and (iii) the Syndicate shall be eligible, after a period of three years has elapsed from the date of his ceasing to be such member, for election or nomination to any of the above mentioned authorities. NOTE: A sum of Rs. 1000/- be fixed for filing nominations by the candidates for the election of 12 Members of the Senate by the Registered Graduates constituencies. Annamalainagar, DR. M. MADURAI KAMARAJ UNIVERSITY Election of a nominee by the Senate to the Committee for recommending a panel of three names to the Chancellor for appointment of the Vice-Chancellor. (Ref. No. ME2/S/VC-P/Election/2010.) No. VI-3(b)/2/2011. It is hereby notified that, according to Statute 5 of Chapter V of the laws of the University, Volume-I Calendar of the University, an election will be held for nominating a person by the Senate by the University to serve on the Committee of three, who are to suggest a panel of three names to the Chancellor for appointment of the Vice-Chancellor. The election will be held in accordance with the Statutes of Chapter V and the rules relating to the elections to the authorities of the University. Each member of the Senate shall have a right to nominate not more than one person who is not a member of any of the authorities of the University to the Committee. Every nomination shall be in writing signed by the proposer who shall be a member of the Senate and Seconded in writing by another member of the Senate called the seconder in the form prescribed. The form prescribed may be obtained from the Registrar on a written requisition signed by any member of the Senate. No nomination shall be valid unless it contains the signature of both the proposer and seconder and the nomination shall also be signed by the person proposed expressing his consent to be nominated. Every nomination must be presented before the Registrar either by the proposer or the seconder or the person proposed before 3.00 p.m. on Friday the 21st January, 2011. The scrutiny of nomination will take place at 3.15 p.m. on Friday the 21st January, 2011 at the Office of the Registrar, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai-625 021. The proposer or the seconder or the proposed nominee can be present at the time of the scrutiny.
