Susquehanna in Brief Academic Structure: Undergraduate university comprises three schools: School of Arts and Sciences, School ofFine Arts and Communications, Sigmund Weis School ofBusiness; offering BachelorofArts, BachelorofMusic, BachelorofScience(Bio- chemistry, Biology, Business, Chemistry, Elementary Education, and Physics). Founded: 1858. Enrollment: Approximately 1,400(almostequallydivided betweenmenand women). Location: Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, on the Susquehanna River 50 miles north of Harrisburg and within 200 miles of New York City, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Washington, D.C. Affiliation: Lutheran. Calendar: Two semesters; 4-4calendar. Student-Faculty Ratio: 14to 1. AverageClassSize: 25 Admission: Competitive. Students are urged to apply as early as possible in the senior year, preferably by March 15. Regular notification begins January 15. The Early Decision deadline is December 15, with notification on a rolling basis. CampusVisitand Personal Interview: Strongly recommended, andespeciallyimpor- tant for Early Decision and transferapplicants. Costs for 1991-92: Tuition and fees, $13,950; room and board, $4,030. Financial Aid: Everyattemptis madetoaward scholarshipand/orneed-based finan- cial aid to talented and deserving students offered admission. More than half the students receive financial assistance from a combination of sources, including Uni- versity scholarships, grants, loans, and campus employment.
