Homecoming 215 The Author 224 Page 9 1— Bound for Summerville THE strawberry season was over, and Nancy Petersheim was on her way to Summerville. She was to stay with her sister Mary and brotherinlaw Jacob for two whole weeks. I just hope I won't have an attack of Heemweh (Pennsylvania German for homesickness), twelveyearold Nancy thought as she sat looking out the van window, watching the farms and trees fly by. Two weeks is a long time to be away from dear Whispering Brook Farm. I'll sure miss Mamm un Daed (Mom and Dad) and the others. I hope Mary still seems like my sister and not like a Fremdling (stranger). I haven't seen her for four months.
