Duringthecelebration,theLAAwillholdasilentauctionfeaturingworkspainted
enpleinairthroughoutthepreviousweekbyLAAartistmembers.Artistswillbe
paintinginthegardensoftheFlorenceGriswoldMuseum,theLymeArtAssocia-
tion,andothernearbysettingscapturingtheuniquelightsandshadowsofanOld
Lymesummerafternoon,followingthetraditionofearlyLymeColonyartistswho
exhibitedworkintheirannualsummerexhibition.
IheSilentAuctionbiddingwillstartat5pmandbiddingwillprogressivelyclose
pergallerybeginningat7pmwhensilentauctionwinnerswillbeannouncedand
paymentsinchecksorcashwillbeexpected.AllproceedsfromtheSilentAuction,
aswellasentrytickets,willsupporttheLymeArtAssociationinitsmissiontoad-
vancethecauseofartthroughexhibitions,educationandthecontinuingrestoration
andpreservationofourhistoricartgalleriesdesignedbyCharlesA.Platt.

“summergardenparty”andpresentedaminiaturecollectionoftheirworksto
Mr.andMrs.WilliamO.GoodmanwhowereearlybenefactorsoftheLAA.
ThisgiftwasgivenontheoccasionofMr.Goodman’s80thbirthdayin
appreciationformanyyearsofsupportandfriendship.Mrs.Goodman
donatedthemoneyforanewwingtotheoriginalLAAbuilding,designed
byCharles.A.Platt,andin1938theGoodmanGallerywasdedicatedtothe
memoryofherhusband.ThephotographcapturestheearlyyearsoftheLAA
andincludesmanynotableLAAartistsoftheperiodalongwithFlorence
GriswoldwhowastheAssociation’sfirstDirector.
