No doubt, it probably already has. Some for good, like keeping your bro- ken refrigerator door handle on for the millions of trips you make to it for munchies. And some for . . . well . . . not so good, like being DTed to the flag pole outside of school because some- one felt you’d be missing out on life without that humiliation. This book is not meant to enhance or encourage those types of life- changing experiences, but by all means don’t let me stop your bad self from experimenting. After all, it’s fun, courageous curiosity that will fuel your creative drive through the projects here. From wicked wallets that will make your boyfriend/girlfriend/ mom/barista jealous, to punked out paper goods, you can rile up your world with all of that, wild wearables, and more. Just flip these pages, stock up on colorful rolls of DT (and other tapes, as well!), and tune in to your imagination. Let your rockin’ self unroll. 9780762434947-tx01.qxd:Stick It! 9/22/10 9:24 AM Page 8 WA R N I N G : S T I C K Y S T U F F ! To state the obvious—DT is some pretty sticky stuff. Such as when you get “stuck” in life and want to bash your head onto hard sur- faces, there are going to be frustrating times working with this oh-so-durable medium. Please don’t intentionally harm yourself. If pieces of tape get tangled and mangled—and they will, trust me— simply rip yourself a new piece. Start over. And if worse comes to worse, put the DT down and step away from the project. Breathe deep—don’t verbally or physically bash anyone or anything in your way—and return when you’ve chilled. Just remember that you are brilliant no matter what your pre- tentious craftster friends say. And if you’re a pretentious craftster, well, you already know you’re the shizz, so go on! PROJECT DIFFICULTY LEVELS: **** Dude, my five-year-old sister could do that. Who says you can’t chew gum, talk, and cut tape **** at the same time? Take a lesson from mama: listen, sit your butt **** down, and be patient. **** Don’t even think about operating heavy machinery. Now where do you go? Before you race to unroll, my friends, we need to make a few pit-stops down the T3 trail, to get the lowdown on necessities: Tools, Tips, and Techniques. By the end, your brain will be busting with the know-how to get through any project here—and on your way to becoming the DT masters of your very own.
