Purpose This Practice contains the COMMON LANGUAGE Standard Abbreviations Master List. The Abbreviations Master List is a listing of words and their abbreviations (single work or multiword abbreviations). In this Practice, the master list is arranged in alphabetical order according to word. Refer to BR-751-410-102, “COMMON LANGUAGE® Standard Abbreviations Master List—Abbreviations and the Words They Represent,” for a list of abbreviations in alphabetical order by abbreviation. 2. Scope This practice applies to organizations responsible for writing standard documentation. This practice is particularly applicable to the following functions: 1. Ordering 2. Billing 3. Circuit Provisioning. 3. Reason For Issue This practice is re-issued to include abbreviations added since the last issue. 4. General Questions concerning these abbreviations should be directed to the General Codes Code Set subject matter expert, Language Standards Department, Telcordia. The Telcordia Language Standards Department provides the technical expertise to maintain the General Codes Code Set. Input to this procedure is provided by the General Codes Technical Advisory Group, in accordance with the procedure outlined in BR-751-000-102, "COMMON LANGUAGE® Abbreviation, Code & Record Request Procedures." For additional information concerning standard abbreviations, and for the procedures used by the Language Standards Department to establish new abbreviations, refer to BR-751-410-100, “COMMON LANGUAGE® Standard Abbreviations—Description.” 5. Standard Abbreviations Master List Table 7-1 contains the alphabetical list of words and their abbreviations from the COMMON LANGUAGE Master List. Descriptive Notes Some abbreviations or words are followed by descriptive notes. These notes supply additional information, or cross-reference other abbreviations. Refer to Table B of BR-751-410-100, “COMMON LANGUAGE® Standard Abbreviations— Description,” for the significance of these footnotes. 7. Establishing New Abbreviations Refer to BR-751-410-100, “COMMON LANGUAGE® Standard Abbreviations— Description,” for the rules and guidelines used for establishing new abbreviations.
