St. Benedict Parish Realities Based on Presentation to Archbishop Naumann, shared with the parish at his recommendation and updated for parish website, June 2017 1 Church Building Numbers & Usage St. Benedict - seats 450 Sacred Heart - seats 192 ● 2 Sunday Masses: 8:00 & 10:30 Sun. ● 1 Weekend Mass: 4:30 Sat. ○ Each over ⅘ full during school year ○ ½ - ⅔ full ○ Each ⅔ - ¾ full during breaks ● weekly confessions ● 8:15 Daily Masses St. Patrick - seats 160 ● Adoration ● 1 Weekend Mass: 8:30 Sun. ● weekly confessions ○ ⅔ full, less so in winter; ● youth group; choir practice; organ lessons ● school building use: few St. Joseph - seats 268 meetings/gatherings; ● 4 pm Saturday: ⅔ - ¾ full ● Longest operating church in Kansas ● 10 am Sunday: ⅓ - ⅔ full **Funerals and Weddings at each location on ● (+ MHMA 6:00 PM Sunday Mass) occasion ● weekly confessions **Numbers are based on adult seating in the ● funeral dinners nave of the church only. Calvary Cemetery - $26,331* (includes Sacred Heart - $13,526* mowing and snow removal) St. Patrick (Church & school building) - $12,847* SBCS - $1,102,270* (also includes payroll & benefits; excludes restricted funds: such as Sacred Heart School - $3,150 (insurance only) lunch, athletics, PTC, etc.) Parish Rectory - $41,319* St. John’s Oratory, Doniphan - no parish fiscal responsibility: all funds used raised by St. Patrick Cemetery - $1,460* (includes mowing) individuals; St. John’s Archdiocesan Deposit 5 and Loans Account pays utilities Major Immediate Repairs Needed St. Benedict - stones falling from towers, St. Patrick - eventual repainting of ceiling, but no significant water leaking into cry room immediate issues ● Cost - very conservative guestimation: well St. Patrick Cemetery - no known issues over $100,000 (over $70,000 for scaffolding alone), waiting for adjusted Mt.
