It contains information on all installation options available, and guidelines for selecting which options are appropriate to given user requirements. Detailed coding information for all installation and user parameters are included. This document will be useful to both administrators and end users of the SPS/MVS-APA product. U21020-J-Z247-4-7600 Summary of Amendments Summary of Amendments Summary of Amendments for U21020-J-Z247-4-7600 for SPS/MVS-APA Version 3.6 Functions not available as PTFs to previous versions • Support for outline fonts. • Automatic page numbering feature when used together with SLE version 2.06. • Sample exit enables printing of overlays and page segments as data. • Delivery of standard 300 and 600 dpi resources with relative metric fonts. • New PTFI command displays PTF level of one or all SPS modules. • New PRTI command displays printer type, model, dpi and available features. Command is issued automatically at start-up and when printer features are changed. • New SDIS command and PRINTSET SETUPxxx parameter display SETUPxxx options active and their source. • New FDIS command and PRINTOPT SETUPxxx/control file parameter display the file options active (pagedef, formdef, chars, etc.) and their source (JCL, forms control file, JES, SETUPxxx, default, etc.) at the console or on the message page. • Support for cut-sheet printers with up to 16 input bins, including setup for specific real forms, input bin selection, forms table support and accounting. • RESLIST SETUPxxx parameter generates a listing of external resources used per printed file, with the name of the resource library used for each of them. • SPOOLMSG SETUPxxx/control file option allows the message page to be spun off to an output file instead of being printed. • COPIES parameter from control file allows up to 32k copies. Each copy may begin and finish at a different page number. • Intervention required and severe error messages are now also sent to userids specified in the NOTIFY list (output statement). A default NOTIFY userid list may be specified for each printer in the SETUPxxx member. U21020-J-Z247-4-7600 Summary of Amendments • SETUPxxx parameters TRACELIM, PGFIXIO and MAXFORM are no longer supported. • Multilining for system console messages provides more readability for operators. • Enhancements to SMF processing assure that accounting is written even when SPS abends or the MVS system crashes (like power failures). • New information page variables for output group page and line counters. • Support for PRTERROR parameter from output statement. • Enhancements in checkpoint processing allow a restart to a short file in the middle of an output group also when the checkpoint interval is bigger than each of the files. • Support for JES2 reason-id in output group unprintable message (HASP704). • SPS may convert the AFPDS data-stream when the printer supports just a specific L-units per unit base value (LUPUB parameter from SETUPxxx). • Font pruning may be requested for single and/or double byte fonts (FPRUN option from SETUPxxx/control file). • The end-user or system programmer may now control the severity of the SPS action after certain types of errors (WRONLY parameter from SETUPxxx/control file). • The end-user or system programmer may now control the SPS action when an unavailable input bin is selected - printout termination or input bin substitution (IBINSUB parameter from SETUPxxx/control file). • New information page variables (%USDx) for USERDATA output statement values. • Support of installation supplied user variables for information pages (%USxx) reduced from 64 to 48 (%US00 to %US47). Functions also available as PTFs for SPS/MVS-APA version 3.2 • Support for BCOCA via LNDs. • New SPS PSORT (page SORT) feature provides potential paper cost reduction by facilitating conversion of simplex SYSOUT data to continuous forms duplex format. See the new SPS manual PSORT User´s Guide for more information. • IM1 to IOCA conversion done by SPS to achieve resolution independent images. Replicate and trim option is also supported. • Support of basic and enhanced N-UP. • Support of all resource types as inline resources. • FLIP parameter from SETUPxxx/control file allows front pages to be printed in the second printer and back pages to be printed in the first printer of a twin printer. • Support for SNA LU1 printers. U21020-J-Z247-4-7600 Summary of Amendments • Support for SNA printer sharing with other applications. • SPS informs the operator and allows retries when SMF is unable to write accounting (no buffers available, SMF files full, recording inactive). • Upgrade of SMF record type 6 format to level 4. • New information page variables for: dates with 4 digit year (year 2000), alternative time formats, userid, output group name and output group id. • Sample JES 3 exit 45 (SPSIX45) delivered with SPS to illustrate how user variables may be implemented. • Support for color in the IPDS architecture. • Support of color twin and pagestream 200 DSC color printers. • Substring format of information page variables. • Support for MO:DCA-P external resources (without 5A carriage control). • Resource read exit point allows inspection and modifications to external resources (formdef, pagedef, overlays, page segments and fonts). • Page segment exit allows SPS to continue processing when a page segment is not available. • Support of a subset of the PSF compatible exit 7 interface. • Support of a PSF compatible, user customizable block letter table. • Support for centering, slant and highspeed functions for block letters used with PSF compatible user exits or IPLINE variables. • Support of eject to front facing sheet for single and twin printers (ETFF and ETFH parameters of SETUPxxx or control file). • New PRTNUFON, PRTNUOVE and PRTNUPSE parameters from SETUPxxx control the maximum number of fonts, overlays or page segments loaded into the printer before these resources are deleted. • Enhancements for SPS in direct printing mode: • deactivation of the software NPRO function (NPRO parameter from SETUPxxx) • bypass of resynchronization process between two direct printing files on twin printers • selection of SETUPxxx member controlled by user direct printing program. • Enhanced double byte font SOSI processing (ENDBCS parameter from SETUPxxx/control file). • PRESENTATION option from control file allows a greater flexibility in overriding the duplex and presentation specifications from a FORMDEF. U21020-J-Z247-4-7600 Summary of Amendments • Up to four chars may be specified in SETUPxxx as default. • Output file may be returned in hold to spool when PIMSG limit exceeded(PIMSG (,HOLD) parameter from SETUPxxx). • TRCTYPE (XEROX) option available via control file. • Support of 3800 compatible default media origin (COMP38MO at SETUPxxx or control file). • Twin buffer size limit extended to circa 100 MB. • Enhanced input record exit interface enables exit to support paper jams and repositioning commands. • Printer output buffer size limit extended to 64k. • Sample input record exit -SPSMREXD- and new exit interface allow the data-set separation page to be printed in the same physical page as the print file. • SPS recognizes in-place changes to USERLIB resources. • New SPS command FORM displays the real forms mounted on the printer. • New REAINUS SETUPxxx option provides an alternative to the forms table for real forms setup processing with cut-sheet printers. • Message exit routines may now change the destination of messages. • New generic entry in MSGSUxxx member allows specifications for all messages not defined in other entries. • Support of the type two interface for formdefs including SMM support. • STAT command extended to display information about internal I/O queues from SPS (active ccw sets and posted ccw sets). • New TINT command writes the SPS internal trace table into the trace files.
