The main goal of the Workshop is to com- municate and publish new theoretical and applicative research results, in the areas of FuzzyLogic,NeuralNetworks,EvolutionaryComputing, andothermethodsbelonging orconnectedtoSoftComputing(SC).Asecondandjustasimportantgoalistoencour- age new reflectionson SC issues and new links betweeninterested researchers,R&D engineers, managersandsoon. The concept of Soft Computing - which was introduced by Lotfi Zadeh in 1991-servestohighlighttheemergenceofcomputingmethodologiesinwhichtheac- centisonexploitingthetoleranceforimprecisionanduncertaintytoachievetractability, robustnessandlowsolutioncost.Theprincipalconstituentsofsoftcomputingarefuzzy logic, neurocomputing, evolutionarycomputingandprobabilisticcomputing, withthe latersubsumingbeliefnetworks,chaoticsystemsandpartsoflearningtheory.Softcom- putingfacilitatestheuseoffuzzylogic, neurocomputing, evolutionarycomputingand probabilistic computing in combination, leading to the concept of hybrid intelligent systems.Suchsystemsarerapidlygrowinginimportanceandvisibility. Nowadays in our complex world all problems cannot be dealt with conventional mathematicalmethods.Withthehelpofsoftcomputingtechniques,thatoffercomple- mentarymethodsallowingflexiblecomputingtools, itispossibletofindgoodsolutions. The book covers a broad spectrum of soft computing techniques, theoretical and practicalapplicationsemployingknowledgeandintelligencetofindsolutionsforworld industrial, economic and medical problems. The combination of such intelligent sys- temstoolsandalargenumberofapplicationsintroduceaneedforasynergyofscientific andtechnologicaldisciplinesinordertoshowthegreatpotentialofSoftComputingin alldomains. The conference papers included in these proceedings, published post conference, weregroupedintothefollowingareaofresearch: (cid:129) SoftComputingandFusionAlgorithmsinBiometrics, (cid:129) FuzzyTheory,ControlandApplications, (cid:129) ModellingandControlApplications, (cid:129) StepstowardsIntelligentCircuits, VI Preface (cid:129) Knowledge-BasedTechnologiesforWebApplications,CloudComputingand SecurityAlgorithms, (cid:129) ComputationalIntelligenceforBiomedicalApplications, (cid:129) NeuralNetworksandApplications, (cid:129) IntelligentSystemsforImageProcessing, (cid:129) KnowledgeManagementforBusinessProcessandEnterpriseModelling. In SOFA 2012 we had five eminent Keynote Speakers: Professor Lotfi A. Zadeh (USA), Professor Michio Sugeno (JAPAN), Professor Kay Chen Tan (Singapore), Professor Michal Baczynski (Poland) and Professor Laszlo B. Kish (USA). Their summariesorextendedtalksareincludedinthisbook. The bookis directed to all interested readersto evaluate to potentialof Soft Com- puting: researchers in laboratories and universities interested to solve real problems, managerslookingfortoolsandnewviewstoimprovetheirbusiness. We especially thank the honorary chair of SOFA 2012 Prof. Lotfi A. Zadeh who encouragedandmotivatedus.Heparticipatedactivelyinourworkshopofthisedition bysendingusaninterestingvideotapelecture. Special thanksto ProfessorMichio Sugenowho showed a constantsupportduring alltheseyearsbyparticipatingtothelastfourSOFAeditions. We wouldlike tothanktheauthorsofthesubmittedpapersforkeepingthequality of the SOFA 2012 conference at high levels.
