Snaggling The Playing Card Game Joseph D. Smith Copyright Copyright © 2022 Smith, Joseph Daniel. All Rights Reserved. Introduction Snaggling utilizes a standard 52-card deck. The objective of the game is to play cards in descending order from higher face values to the smallest face value a player can play on the pile. Usually a 2 is the last card that wins the game, but a player with an Ace can intercept and win the game! You must play all copies of the same face value you plan to use equal to however many hold in your hand. Rules Players: 2 and up Dealer: Dealer deals 3 cards to each player, starting at their left. Drawing: Players take turns drawing on their own turns. Playing: 1st player left of the dealer chooses between a card with a suit of K/Q/J/10 (all are considered as evens and equals 10, but not interchangeable for each other) to 5 and plays however many copies of that face value in their hand onto the pile. Players alternate trying to score either a 2 or an Ace as the last playable card (if no other cards have been drawn before the 2 or Ace is played). Whoever plays the last playable card (either 2s or Aces) wins! Steps Drawing: Each player draws 1 card from the deck 1st thing on their own turn. Playing: Turn player chooses a card with a face value between King to 5 and plays it on the pile, along with all duplicates of that card. The next player plays a card with a face value that is either 1 lower, 2 lower, or a card that matches the face value of the previous player's card played on the pile (also: matches must be played on top of matches). Exception: A player with no card to play must draw from the top of the deck until they either a) match the pile, b) is 1 point lower than the previous card on the pile, or c) an even gap may be played on the pile (if a 5 is on top, either a 4 or a 3 can be played on the pile and no lower, [especially no higher]).
