When I told him about the new series of lascivious lords I was contemplating, he suggested I set it in a place like that big old house on that popular TV show. Thus Hawksfell Manor was created! GABRIEL’S GUESTS Lords of Hawksfell Manor 1 JOSIE DENNIS Copyright © 2012 Chapter 1 Yorkshire, England 1912 Lord Gabriel Hawk, the Earl of Hawksfell, poured a generous amount of brandy into his glass then set the empty bottle aside for his attentive staff to refill. Dinner had been fine, eaten in solitude as usual. It was too early to find his bed, despite the lure of the fine linens and ample pillows. The fire crackled behind the grate as if fighting against the rain and wind outside, doing little to warm him. Too many years spent alone had inured him to the solace found in common comforts. It was how he wanted things, in truth. As a Hawk, it was his due. The family was well known in their part of Yorkshire, infamous really. His father, his father’s father, his uncles and cousins, had all fucked their way through the county over the past decades. More bastards, half uncles, and cousins than Gabriel could count littered the countryside. They were all acknowledged, given titles to reflect their respective sire’s status, and apparently bent on continuing the tradition of populating half of Yorkshire without benefit of marriage or commitment. They didn’t seem to be able to cease this behavior. Maybe the first woman wronged by a Hawk cursed all the males in Gabriel’s Guests 9 their line, or perhaps they were just bred to be a randy bunch of bastards. Gabriel didn’t know the answer to that generations-old riddle, but as the eldest living Hawk, who was he to buck tradition? His ascension to the earldom had come about two months earlier, when his father went down with the Titanic. No doubt he’d been rutting his way across the Atlantic when the ship hit that bloody iceberg. He searched for a flicker of grief, but he’d never been close to his sire. And now he kept to his dark manor. He chose not to frequent the pub in the nearby village of Helmsley with their generous serving wenches. When he was younger, he’d gone there often. He’d taken more girls than he could remember, in more ways than should be possible. Now he made certain to hire servants who knew how to serve their master within the manor’s thick stone walls. “More brandy, my lord?” a feminine voice inquired from the doorway. Gabriel looked over to find his newest maid standing there, a bottle of liquor held in her hands. She wore a starched black uniform with a crisp white apron and matching cap on her head. His man of affairs, Grantley, did well with the new hire. She was a pretty thing, dark and sultry with large eyes and full lips. He felt his cock fill as he studied those lips. Every servant knew what was required when they worked at Hawksfell Manor. Serve the appetites of the lord in residence. In fact, it was rumored that his own mother had been a scullery maid at the manor, but she’d relinquished any claim on him after he was born for a hefty monetary reward. As cursed as they were with lust, they were blessed to have more money than Croesus. He didn’t go about things as the other Hawks had in the past or did now, for he didn’t want a by-blow to inherit. True, he had no notion what it meant to feel a mother’s loving touch. He didn’t wish any child of his to go without it, however. Better his particular line died with him. 10 Josie Dennis Thus he preferred to spill his seed safely, in the welcoming mouth of a pretty maid or on her soft belly once he pulled out of her tight, wet pussy. Of course when he fucked one of the grooms or a footman, procreation was never an issue. “Come here,” he said, gentling the command with a smile. “Please.” She took a few steps into the room. “What is your name again?” he asked. “Mary,” she answered. Her tongue snuck out to lick those full lips of hers, and she swallowed. “Are you requiring anything tonight?” His smile widened as his blood beat thick and low. “Yes, Mary.” He began to unbutton his trousers. “Are you ready to serve me?” She stared at his shaft, which was throbbing now and huge in his hand, and her pupils dilated. “Yes, my lord.” She came closer and set the bottle on the table beside him then sank to her knees. * * * * Afterward, Gabriel helped the maid to her feet and nodded. “That will be all, Mary.” She smiled up at him and left him in familiar solitude. He was kind and generous to his staff, and it was really only once or twice a year he had to dismiss a servant due to emotional attachment. Theirs to him, of course. He never let himself feel anything for anyone. Settling back down in his chair, he fought off the shame attempting to wrap itself around his heart. He paid his servants well. He never abused a one of them or made them do anything that didn’t bring them pleasure, too. It was necessary to provide an outlet for the blasted Hawk lusts that ran so high in his veins. God knew he’d tried over the years to satisfy himself with his hand, earning nothing but stabbing pain in his belly and an
