WHEREAS, the fear of being unsafe by walking to the library, and having the chance of being harmed, may lead to a decline in the enrollment. THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Northwestern State University provide more lighting behind the library leading to Rapides. Whereas, The participation of these students in the conference will greatly benefit Northwestern State University By: A. Helping the students cultivate effective leadership skills to be used at Northwestern State University. B. Promote the involvement of minority students in student activities and club-sports. C. Increase the diversity in many club-sports by applying the knowledge that has been learned at the conference directly to NSU's campus. D. Increase the retention rate by increasing the number of minority motivators and leaders on campus. Whereas: The Black Student Association cannot cover the cost of trip alone. The BSA is currently sponsoring fundraisers such as raffles, basketball tournaments, and parties to raise money for the trip. However, it is unlikely that they will generate enough funds to cover the entire cost of the conference. Therefore Be It Resolved: That the SGA help financially support NSU's minority students by paying for the registration fee of the students attending the conference. This fee is listed on the cost sheet (attachment B). It is $1,300.00. This fee does not include hotel accommodations or transportation. Whereas, the parking lot at Rapides dormitory is a joke. Whereas, the parking lot at Rapides dormitory is an inconvience because the parking lot lines are crooked. Whereas, this inconvience leaves vehicles banged and scratched up. Therefore Be it Resolved: Northwestern State University allocate the Rinds necessary to get the parking lot redrawn. Students can not be effectively advised on the proper steps to completing their college education. Whereas, I : d faculty means limited class sections and course selection Whereas, Nonti western has had a student population increase of 3%-4% per year over the past eight years Our student population is outgrowing our campus faculty. Limited faculty means minimum is oui excellent standard. Therefore let it <e resolved, an increase in faculty is needed. The Northwestern State University Student Government Association supports any effort by the University to increase the faculty student rat V/e encourage the University Directors to examine our current situation and take action imnu ..ir.my ft is our view that a quality education cannot be properly attained at this university unless this problem is corrected.
