Within these pages you will see brought back to life, the events and occasions that marked this historic year. Throughout the year, the banner in front of the school read, “Celebrating our story, igniting our future!” A lot of time was spent throughout the year retelling stories from the past, making our own history, and also making plans for the future - especially for the graduates of 2017! Over the year Ava Guse presented Historical Vignettes to us in Chapel, and at Convocation I spoke of alumni across the years who had made particular contributions to their times, as examples of what is possible. I would argue that the reason for the continuing success of AC grads as they move out into the world is the mutually caring and supportive environment in which we live together while we are here. As I said at Convocation: Head's Address Not every member of the Physics class was on par with Einstein, and not every member of the choir was a burgeoning Pavarotti, but you shared your talents, worked together, supported one another, and by working together, you have each become more than any one of you could have become alone. This is the strength and the secret of Albert College. I also reviewed some of the Grad write-ups from a decade earlier, and compared them to where those same grads were 10 years later. As you go back through this yearbook in years to come, take a moment to review the career aspirations of the Grad Class of 2017.1 am sure there will be many individuals who have gone off in directions never contemplated at graduation, yet they will be making incredible contributions to the various parts of the world in which they find themselves. I hope this Alibi brings back many wonderful memories for you when you first review it, and I assure you the memories will become stronger and more precious as the years progress. Thank you to Mr. Paul Guse and his Yearbook team for their work on our behalf. Through their efforts we will always have this window into our communal past.
