LOU was in the driver’s seat for most of the game, leading 2-0 on RBI hits by B ats in Extra-Inning Games Since 2010 Juan Perez and Jose Peraza in the third inning and stellar early pitching from starter Robert Stephenson. He’s coming 8/1/2014 at COL 4-0; tied up 4-4 W 5-4 off rough back-to-back outings (5/14 at COL, 5/22 vs. COL), both relief appearances where he gave up three WE’RE HITTING HERE IN ALLENTOWN: Louisville hitters accounted for 13 hits on Friday, their second-most in a series opener this season, just behind the earned runs on four hits. He’ll face Lehigh Valley for the 15 hits they registered at Norfolk on 4/24 in a 9-0 victory. Juan Perez (2-for-6, RBI, R), Jesse Winker (2-for-4, R, BB), Scott Schebler (2-for-5, 2B, R), and first time in his career on Saturday. Kyle Waldrop (3-for-5, 2 2B, 2 R) all had multi-hit games for the Bats, with Jermaine Curtis (1-for-5, HR, 2 RBI, R) and Raffy Lopez (1-for-5, 2 RBI) also contributing huge hits. After hitting .385 in April, he’s hitting .291 in May, with 9 of his 14 multi-hit games Slugging: 13th (.350) Strikeouts: 7th (362) Average: 2nd (.264) WHIP: 4th (1.25) and all three of his home runs coming this month. After starting May 0-for-16 and having his batting average drop from .385 to .294 in the process, Curtis has OPS: 8th (.688) Holds: T-10th (10) hit safely in 15 of his last 17 games. He currently leads in the IL in batting average (.326) and on-base percentage (.434). Bats Team Leaders WINKER HEATING UP: Bats outfielder Jesse Winker registered his second multi-hit game in three days, also drawing a walk. After going through a 2-for-27 stretch, he’s hit safely in his last six games, and has reached base in his last nine. Winker leads the IL in walks (28), passing Durham’s Richie Shaffer and Batting: Jermaine Curtis – .326* Rochester’s Kennys Vargas last night, who have 27 walks apiece. Runs: Jose Peraza – 23 Hits: Jose Peraza – 46 25 OR 6 TO 4: With the Bats’ 6-4 win over Lehigh Valley, they have now reached 25 wins on the season. With Columbus losing last night, LOU is now one Doubles: Steve Selsky – 11 game back of the IL West division lead. The entire division is separated by less than five games, with the Bats slated to play the Clippers next on July 7-8 at Triples: Jose Peraza – 2 Louisville Slugger Field.
