Pic Arthur Ellis. Sri Satguru Jagjit Singh Ji eLibrary [email protected] Local politicians and members of the Indian community in Clare gathered in Shannon Airport at the weekend to welcome a Sikh religious leader to the County. His holiness Sri Satguru Uday Singh Ji was on a two-day visit to Ireland during which he travelled to various parts of the county to meet with the estimated 200 members of the local Namdhari community. Among those to greet the guru was Cllr. James Breen, Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council, Tony Mulcahy, Clare Fine Gael Senator and local businessman and Sikh member Paramjit Neote. Sri Satguru Uday Singh Ji’s last visit to Clare was in May 1998 when he laid the foundation stone of 28,000 sq ft building in the World Aviation Park, Shannon, on the invitation of Mr. Neote. Paramjit Neote was a pioneer to Ireland when he came here in 1988 and started Shannon Aircraft Motor Works. He later helped to establish a thriving Namdhari Sikh in the wider region.
