"God, damn it, Andrea! Where are you going?" I watch while my daughter runs away from me and follows down the street. Leaving my belongings at the door of our house I run after her before something happens. This girl doesn't have a notion of danger.
I can't see her anymore. Despair starts creeping into my heart while I look around trying to find her. I keep running while my mind tells me all the terrible things that can happen to Andrea if I don't find her. The sound of her laugh gets my attention, and I stop running. It's hard to breathe. I look around until I see her on the other side of the street. She's laughing and petting an enormous dog. I walk over to them. I can't believe she ran from me for this.
There's a small voice in my head telling me that at least she's safe, but I'm too scared to listen. "What were you thinking, young lady?" I ask, my voice shaking with the effort of running after her and with the fear that still hasn't left me.
