SAP SUCCESSFACTORS EMPLOYEE CENTRAL PAYROLL ADMINISTRATION (HR812) 9 Unit 1 - Employee Central Payroll Introduction Unit Objectives This unit contains one lesson: • Lesson 1-1: Employee Central Payroll and Payroll Control Center Overview Upon completing this unit, you will be able to: • Describe the purpose and goals of Employee Central Payroll Control Center • Identify the different tools used in the Home page for Employee Central Payroll Control Center Lesson 1-1 - Employee Central Payroll and Payroll Control Center Overview Introduction The goal for this lesson is to provide an overview of EC Payroll and PCC’s function in the organization. Lesson Objectives • Describe the main functions of Employee Central Payroll and Payroll Control Center • Identify the different tools used in the Home page for Employee Central Payroll Control Center What is Payroll? Payroll is the calculation of payment for work performed by each employee. Payroll comprises a number of work processes, including the generation of payroll results and remuneration statements, implementation of bank transfers, and facilitation of check payments. What does a normal payroll cycle look like? • During a payroll cycle, there are certain deadlines that must be met: • The employee has to receive the payment not later than a fixed date (typically, the last working day of a payroll period) • The tax declaration statement has to be submitted not later than a specific date © Copyright. All rights reserved. SAP SUCCESSFACTORS EMPLOYEE CENTRAL PAYROLL ADMINISTRATION (HR812) 10 • Based on these deadlines, the entire payroll processing window is defined in a backward termination way • In almost all cases, various iterations have to be done in order to get to a correct result • Typically, those iterations happen to be over-night batch jobs • So, what we see are payroll processes that are heavily influenced by a kind of “batch thinking mentality” • What makes this way of processing really time consuming is the following: • The later in the process a problem is found, the worse it gets as far as the timeline goes • In this case, one has to go all the way back to start, fix the problem, and re-run the whole thing • After all this has been done, a manager type of person has to review and sign that all data is now in a good shape Payroll Process Successful payroll hindrances You are in charge of the successful execution of your companies payroll, but: • To run a successful productive payroll, your team needs many manual steps towards correct and consistent payroll results. Typically, you need large Excel spreadsheets with process descriptions and the information of “who” has to do “what” and by “when;” • Still, there is no or little transparency over complete end-to-end process (e.g. how do you get an overview on all your different weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll processes running at a certain point of time, and what is their status ?); © Copyright.
