Red Cross Aruba San Nicolas Branch opened for its monthly "Pan y Sopi" (Bread & Soup) and provided a warm meal and support to about 25 people. This time workshop Mandala Cup and Saucer took place , where adults and kids participated. 4! JANUARY 20TH 2020 SAN NICOLAS COMMUNITY PAPER San Nicolas Steelband Extravaganza With the second edition of Honor to Connor Steelband Extravaganza, that took place in front of Charlie's bar and Restaurant, , no doubt Aruba Pan Man Foundation achieved its goal. In this case I am referring to the goal of keeping the Steelpan music alive in Aruba. This event, which is to commemorate the Birthday of the late Edgar Connor Aruba's Steelpan Pioneer ,which is January 18, started out with an excellent performance of the kids that receive steelpan playing classes at Skol di Arte. The kids were so enthusiastic in their steelpan playing on stage that they !5 JANUARY 20TH 2020 SAN NICOLAS COMMUNITY PAPER played more songs that were presented by the MC. Then followed the adults that receive steelpan playing classes at Skol di Arte, who gave a good performance although the falling rain stalled the performance for a moment. The youngsters Marver Guedez and Carlson Peterson with their fantastic steelpan playing performance also contributed to the goal of Aruba Panman Foundation in keeping Steelplan playing alive in Aruba. Robert Philips with The Boyz Pan Experience showed that on steelpan you can play all sort of songs. Aruba Invaders Steel Orchestra gave a performance that no other steelband can give. The part of the "Extravaganza" where Aruba Invaders Steel Orchestra played Steelpan the way it was done in the past during Carnival Parades had those that were present jamming in the street of San Nicolas. Making them feel the atmosphere when Steelpan Playing was the main means of music in the Carnival Parades of Aruba. The "Honor to Connor Steelband Extravaganza" ended with a presentation of LLoyd Baptist who had the crowd jamming with singing , among others, the song Ban Ban, Lulu. This in combination with a Costume presentation and dancing of the Cocco Rico Emotions. All in All, the second edition of" Honor to Connor Steelband Extravaganza,was a great success that is contributing with its main goal, which is keeping the Steelplan Playing in Aruba alive. JANUARY 20TH 2020 SAN NICOLAS COMMUNITY PAPER San Nicolas Ballon Parade 2020 Children Balloon Parade in San Nicolas in which 4 groups participated, reaching to a total of 1500 participant.The Parade started 1.07 PM , the first group reached 4.37 at the finish and the last group reached the finish 5.06 PM.
