Russian M&A review 2017 3 Overview Although deal activity increased by 13% in 2017, the value of Russian M&A Deal was 12% lower than the previous activity 13% year, at USD66.9 billion, mainly due to an absence of larger deals. This was in particular refected in the oil and gas sector, which in 2016 was characterised by three large deals with a combined value exceeding USD28 billion.
