Academic and student support services areprovidedthrough the Library, the TeachingLearning Center, theAdvising Center, andthe Counseling Department . — PART ONE Facilities & Services ACADEMIC ADVISORS All students enrolled indegree programs axe assignedacademic advisors whoaremembers of the facultyand staff. Although students are reccrrmendedtomeet with advisors on a regular basis todiscuss course selections and career options, theyare reajiredtoiteetwiththeiradvisorspriortoregistrationeverysemester. Advisorswillpost theirhourson their officedoors. Students whodo not have advisors shouldcontact theAdvisingGenter, Student CenterBuilding, Roan 311(617-541-5303). ACTIVITY HOURS Special timesare reservedduringtheweek forstudent activities, clubmeetingsandassemblies. Generally, noclasses are scheduled during these hours: Tuesdays andThursdays from 11:30 amuntil 12:50 pm. ADVISING CENTER Student CenterBuilding, Room 311 TheAdvisingCentermonitors academicprogress, alerts advisors about students whoare experiencingacademicdifficulty, andrefers students tocounselors. The counseling staffworks closelywiththe school nurse, outsidehealthagencies, and otheragenciesassociatedwithdisabilities. Counseling is available inbothEnglishandSpanish. — ASSESSMENT See Placement Testing in Part 2 — ASSOCIATE DEGREES See Programs of Study ATHLETICS Theathleticsprogramoffersstudentsopportunitiestoparticipateinintercollegiate, intramjral, andrecreationalactivities. Intercollegiate teams exist forbaseball (men) andbasketball (menandwomen) Also, theReggieLewisTrackandAthleticCenterat RoxburyCamunityCollegeoffersother intramuralactivities, including tennis andvolleyball. Credit andnon-credit classes inaerobics, danceandkarateareofferedtoall students. BOOKSTORE Academic Building, First Floor TheCampusbookstore sells all textbooks requited foryourcourses, asveil as school supplies, clothing, gifts, greeting cards, newspapers, magazines andsnack ijbetns.' Foryour convenience, MasterCard, Visa andAmerican Express are accepted. Hoursofoperation: 9:00 am - 5:00 pmMonday and Thursday 9:00 am - 7:00 pmTuesday and Wednesday 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Friday* *Curingthe first twoweeks ofeach semester, extendedhours are posted. BULLETIN BOARDS Bulletinboardsare locatedineveryCollegebuilding. AnymaterialpostedonCollegebulletinboards must be approvedandstampedbythe Office of Student Activities. Anymaterial not stampedorany materialthat ispostedinplacesotherthanbulletinboards (i.e., pillars, wallsandelevators) willbe removed. "SSfeSi- '9&£'ji CAMPUS LOCATIONS RoxburyCommunityCollege consists of two campuses. The main campus, located at 1234 Columbus Avenue, is adjacent toMalcolmXBoulevardandCedar Streets. This 12-acre campus consists of five buildings: Administration, Academic, MediaArts, Student Center, andthe Reggie lewis Trackand AthleticCenter. The CatmonwealthAvenue Campus, formerlythe BostonBusiness School, is located at 989 Commonwealth Avenue. CAMPUS SECURITY Academic Building, Room 109 Students areencouragedto contact the securitystaff forassistancewhenever needed. All suspicious orcriminalactivity, aswell as, medical emergencies shouldbereportedtothe campus office. When claisses are insession, aguard is stationed intheCedarStreetparking lot from8:00 am- 10:00pm, Monday through Friday, and 8:00 am - 4:00 pmon Saturday. Forassistancecall ext. 5338.
