General 6 7 Introduction Rotterdam The Hague Airport is an extremely safe airport. Every year more than 50,000 take-offs and landings of aircraft take place here. With the increasing number of flights, it is becoming ever busier on airside and for this reason, we pay constant attention to order and security to ensure that in the future too, Rotterdam The Hague Airport remains a safe airport. In order to prevent unsafe situations from arising, special rules and regulations apply. Rules and regulations airside In order to control all the processes taking place airside, there are rules, regulations and procedures in place. These have their origins in the laws and regulations relating to the safety and security of civil aviation, fire safety and working conditions. Rules and regu- lations applying to airside are laid down in various rule books, but in order to ensure that these are complied with by everybody involved, the most important and most general rules, regulations and proce- dures have been summarized in this handbook. For whom is this handbook intended This handbook is intended for everyone working airside. Airside is the section of the airfield where aircraft land, take off, taxi, park, are handled by ground-handlers and are possibly towed. Among other things, this area is closed off by a perimeter fence which separates the airside from the landside. Everyone who works on airside must know and comply with the rules and regulations that apply there. Therefore this handbook is being given out to everyone who is authorized to enter airside, and to anyone who wishes to be considered for authorization. 6 7 Use of the handbook The detailed rules and regulations can be found in the General Airport Regulations (Algemeen Luchthavenreglement), the Supplementary Airport Regulations Rotterdam (Aanvullend Luchthavenreglement Rotterdam), Rotterdam Airport BV General Conditions - Part 1and 2 (Algemene Voorwaarden Rotterdam Airport BV (deel1 en 2), the domestic rules of the airport (Huis- houdelijk Reglement Rotterdam Airport) and the Sanctions Policy rules (Reglement Sanctioneringsbeleid Rotterdam Airport) all of which can be found on our website www.rotterdamthehagueairport. nl /reglementen and also, among other places, in the instruction programme Beveiligingsbewustzijn. This handbook does not replace or modify the rules and agreements described elsewhere, but is to serve as a summary of the most important rules and as a source of information. The handbook can be used for reference in daily practice, and in preparation for the various tests which you must successfully pass in order to obtain an official ID card of the airport (luchthavenpas - officieel luchthavenidentiteitskaart Rotterdam The Hague Airport). The handbook is also of importance for those who carry out work on airside with a visitor pass. We count on your commitment in your own interest and in that of others. Drs. J.W. Perdon Manager Operational Services 8 9
