broughtoutthoseWayteRaymondholderscompletelyfullofthemostspectacularlytoned,mostoriginalearly
quartersIhadseeninoneplaceatonetimeinmyentire15yearsofphotographingbustquarters. Ihavemany
favoritesIwillalwaysremember.Itistrulythehighlightinmyquartercareer!
EventhoughmostmytimewasspentbehindthecameraIwasabletoenjoyallthegreatconversationandpast
reflectionsbyyou,DavePerkinsandThomasSerfassduringourvisit.Myenjoymentwasreallytwo-fold
becauseasatrulydedicatedresearcherofbustquartersIhadaspecialopportunitytoappreciateeachandevery
piecewhichlayundermycameraknowingtheseexampleswerenotonlypedigreedtoEricP.Newmanbutto
thefamousCol.E.H.R.Green!Icouldn’timagineactuallyholdingexampleswhichhadnotseenthelightof
dayforcirca60yearsplusandIwasoneofthefewwhocherishedthatrareopportunity,thankyou.Who
knows,withsomediggingPmprettysurethereareafewfamousplatedauctionsalesfromtheearly1900’sthat
yourquartersmayagainplatematch.
Thetourofyourmuseumwasveryinterestingtomeandthebeautifullystyledlibrarywasofexcellenthelpas
TomandIwereabletoutilizeitbyobtainingaBrowningbookofftheshelfduringourplateverificationon

InthisfirstpackageIhavesentanalbumwithafullsetofquarterpicturesdepictingonestyleoflighting.These
aretheoneswhichhavehad“directlighting”duringphotographywhichshowthetoningbestandhave
excellentcontrast.You’llnoticeIlaidoutallthesepicturesontherightside.OnceIfinishtheotherpictures
thatdepict“indirectlighting”youcaninsertthemontheleftasisthe1796B-2,forexample.Thiswayaperson
cangetafeelofhowthecoinmayactuallylookiftheyaretiltingitunderanincandescentlightbulb.Asanote,
yourearlydollarsetwillonlycontainonestyleofpictures,“directlighting,”aswewereactuallyrunningoutof
timeonDecember7ththateveningtodobothversions.ThesecondpackagewillalsoincludeCD’scontaining5
inchdigitalcolorphotographsofeverything.
Youwillbegladtoknowmanyofyourquarterphotographs(blackandwhite)willbeusedintheupcoming
