Description:Major improvements in the durability and mechanical strength of deteriorating stone can be achieved through the use of epoxy resins as consolidants. The research presented in this volume shows that the proper use of solvents avoids problems of discoloration and crust formation. Two distinctly different approaches are explored. In the European model, treatment is done primarily on small objects using methods that maintain the resin solutions against the stone surface. In the United States, large surface areas of buildings are treated by spraying or brushing.
