Description:CHAPTER ONE
INSIDE THE COMMUNIST
When an American joins the Communist party, he cuts himself off from the rest of the community. He becomes an enemy to the rest of us, and most of us are very much afraid of him. We are afraid because we really know almost nothing about him, what got him into the party, what influences shaped him so that he was party material, what makes him tick.
The thesis of this book is that the people of the United States cannot wisely and successfully combat communism in this country unless they understand Communists. Understanding also will remove fear. So we propose to examine, with the assistance of personal accounts of several hundred men and women who have been in and out of the Communist party, just why they joined and why they left. If we know these facts we will be in a better position to prevent the rank and file, which is the backbone of any party, from joining in the first place. Certainly we would be able to get them out before they have become dangerous agents of a foreign power.
