FEB 2, 1980 REPORT CF THE PRESIDENT OF THE SUDANESE SOCIALIST UNION 10. O. C/ 3/ 2 ينادوسلا یكکااررتتألالا دقويلا ܀ ܪ ܂ .. ܂ ܂ ! Dear Brothers, I greet you in the name of the invincible May Revolution. I salute your spirit of struggle, sacrifice and obsolute fidelity to the father land and the Revolution . Starting our deliberations after the opening session, we should take stock, nor that the Revolution has entered its second decade, of our past experience and the performance of our depart ments and institutions. Such an exercise should be objective and frank. It should point out the positive aspects. It should not gloss over the negative aspects. I have always taken the view that audecity impels successful and indeed formidable break throughs. We should always courage have the to face ourselves squarely. Let there be no pretext or hush hush . Our enemies will, as usual, indulge in gossip , to denigrate the unity of the Sudan , to plot against the independence of the Sudan and to Difficulties belittle the dignity of the Sudan . are blown out of proportion; false rumours constantly fabricated and circulated and apathy fomented. But all in vain. The people and the Revolution of the Sudan are determined to stand up to difficulties and challenges. Our will to fight and struggle for the dignity and glory of the Sudan will never be broken . ../2 2 While preoccupied with our internal activities, we should be vigilent as regardo what is happening around us. We should correctly assess the grave dangers and pressures put on us to imperil our security, stability and freedom, and to strangle our economy . No one is being alarmist, But we should be vigilant and ready come what may without complacency or unawareness, I have repeatedly said that stability is the main pre-requisite to preserve the unity of the fatherland, law and order and an independent national will. Tragic eventos angulfing our area and in other parts of the world are serious lessons and grim reminders that division and disorder will open wide loopholes for discord collapse and foreign invasion and foreign occupation, But the Revolution is the defender of stability of the Sudan and the unity of the Sudan . We will not tolerate or permit any destabilisation or threat to the peace or unity of the Sudan . We will not hesitate to confront and resist such threats . Let us remember the - the tragedy of Afghanistan and of its people tragedy of Soviet criminal aggression , Afghanistan and its people are now under the boots of ruthless Soviet occupation . But who paved the way ? Who laid the ground work ? 1 1
