Accidenticulabrum nom. nov. is a replacement name for Denticulabrum Vermeij 1999, nonSohl,
1998.

P. Bouchet (personal communication, January, 2000) has pointed out to me that
Denticulabrum Vermeij, 1999(p. 186) is preoccupied by DenticulabrumSohl, 1998 (p. 64),
a genus of Cretaceous trochid gastropods fromJamaica. Here I rename my genus as
Accidenticulabrumnom. Nov.
In my original paper, I had overlooked Vredenburg's (1922) assignment ofthe type
species ofAccidenticulabrum, Fusus sangiranensis Martin, 1906, to LaciniaConrad, 1853.The
Eocene genus Lacinia differs from Accidenticulabrumby having an indeterminate, adapi-
cally deeply notched outer lip instead ofan externally thickened, adapically extended
but unnotchedterminaladult varix, and by lacking a basallabraltooth.Accidenticulabrum
appears to be a phosine buccinid, whereas Lacinia may belong to the Melongenidae.
