Opent he bolt, and push upwardo n the bolt release,lo catedi nside the trigger guard,j ust forward of the trig- ger. Removet he bolt toward the rear. 2. Grrp the underlugo f the cocking piecef irmly in a vise, and pull the bolt body toward the front to cleart he front projection of the cocking piecef rom the rear of the bolt. Unscrew the bolt from the sleevea nd striker as- semblyc ounterc lockwise. 3. Grip the front portion of the strikerf irmly in a vise, taking caret o exert no sidep ressure, and pusht he sleevef orward until a small piece of steel ( at least1 /16i nch thickness)c anb e insertedb etween the front of the cockingp iece and the rear of the sleeve. Grip the cockingp iece in a vise, hold firmly to the striker and spring,a nd drift out the crossp in in the cockingp iece. Caution: The striker spring is fully comprcssa nd is quite strong,s o keep it under control When the pin is out, slowly releaset he spring tension and removet he striker,s pring,a nd bolt sleevet oward the front. 4. Drift out the crossp in at the front of the bolt will release the ejector and its springf or removalt oward the front. Cau- tion: The ejector spring is partially compressede, venw hen at a rest. Control it and easei t out. 5. The extractori s retainedi nside the cartridgeh ead recessi n the front face of the bolt by a tiny rivet, and removali n normal disassemblyis definitely not recommendeda, s this will usuallyb reakt he extractor"f f removal is necessaryto repalcea broken extractor,u se a small diameter drift punch to drive the rivet upward. Note that the ejectorm ust be removedb eforet his is done. 6. Removet he large vertical screw at the rear of the trigger guard. Removet he large vertical screw on the underside of the stock,f orward of the trigger guard. Removet he vertical screw at the front of the trigger guard, and take the action out of the stock upward. The trigger guard can be taken off downward. 'l F' . The magazines pring and follower will be releasedf or removal as the action is takeno ut of the stock. Themagazine box is retainedb y a small vertical screwt hrough a tab at the rear,o n the right undersideo f the receiver. 8. Drift out thef ront triggerh ousingc rosspm towardsth er isht. 9. Note that the rear trigger housrngc ross pin is alsot he retainera nd pivot for the bolt stop and its spring,a nd the spring shouldb e restrainedw hile the pin is drifted out. Make suret he safetyi s out of the way before beginning. 10. Set the safetyl ever in the on safep osi- tion, and drift out the rear trigger housing crossp in. Remembert hat the bolt stopa nd its spring will be releaseda s the pin clearst heir position 11. Removet he triggera ssemblyd ownward. 12. Remove theb olt stopa ndi ts spring. 13. Removet he searf rom theb arreleda ction(ofrr om thet op of the triggerh ousing) . Note thep ositionsa ss hownf or re- placemenot f the spring. This step will remove several parts with one pin be sure to read and review the next two stepsb efore starting. 14. Removet he c clip from the end of the safety pivot post on the right side of the housing,a nd take out the pivot post towardst he left. The safety detent springc an then be pivoted downwarda nd removed. Take caren o to lose the small detentb all, which will be releaseda s the spring is removed.T he safetyc an now be moved out toward the rear. 15. Removaol f thep ivot postw ill alsof reet heb olt stop releasefr om thel eft sideo f theh ousins. 16. Drifting out the trigger crossp in will re- leaset he trigger and trigger connectorf or re- moval. Take caren ot to lose the trigger spring. The other four crossp ins hold the housingt o- gether,a nd are rivetedi n place. Removalo f thesep ins is not recommended. ReassemblTyi ps Beforet he bolt can be replacedi n the receiver,t he strikerm ust be in the cockedp osition. Uset wo slavep ins to hold the seara nd its spring in placew hile drifting the rear trigger housingc rossp in in place. Be suret he safetyi s out of the way. For properp lacemento f the bolt stop and springr efer to step# 9 and# 12.
