In preparing this manuscript for publication,we are grateful to the individual authors for developing these papers and for work- ing with us to produce a coherence of presentation and style,and to our colleagues, Diane Drayson and Susan Thomas, who have worked with us on the text. This volume also represents the well-established collaboration that exists between the Welsh National Centre for Religious Education and the North of England Institute for Christian Education, two Church-related foundations committed to research and develop- ment in religious education in schools and churches.
