Although this infection is rare in the United States, this has only been the case for a few decades. The dis- ease has been carefully controlled through research and vaccination programs. As the pattern of rabies changes in the United States, bats have replaced dogs as the main carriers of the disease. This book aims to examine these changing trends ofrabies intheUnitedStates and theworld.
