The meeting attracted 380participantsfrom26countries,with242papersbeingpresented,alongwith56 posterpresentations,5pre-conferenceworkshops,5keynotepresentations,4invited speakerpresentations,4state-of-the-artlectures,and8invitedsymposia.Wethank theUniversityofWisconsin-Extensionstaff,aswellasthefacultyandstudentsfrom theDepartmentofEducationalPsychologyattheUniversityofWisconsin,Madison forhostingthisverysuccessfulconference. This volume continues a tradition started after the 77th meeting in Lincoln, Nebraska, ofpublishinga proceedingsvolumefromthe conferenceso as to allow presenters to quickly disseminate their ideas to the broader research community, whilestillundergoingathoroughreviewprocess.The78thmeetinginArnhemwas also followedby a proceedings. With the thirdproceedings,we nowhave a series that is expected to be continued next year with submissions from the 80th IMPS meetinginBeijing,China. We asked the authors to use their presentations at the meeting as the basis of their chapters, possibly extended with new ideas or additional information. The resultisaselectionof26state-of-the-artchaptersaddressingadiversesetoftopics, includingitemresponsetheory, factoranalysis, structuralequationmodelling, time seriesanalysis, mediationanalysis, propensityscoremethods, cognitivediagnostic models,andmulti-levelmodels,amongothers. Theproceedingsofthe77thand78thmeetingwereinitiatedbyRogerE.Millsap, the editor of Psychometrika. Just before finalizing the proceedings of the 78th meeting, on May 9, 2014, Roger suddenly passed away. This volume is the first proceedingsnotinitiatedbyRoger.Wededicateittohim.
