NOTIFICATION
The 5th January, 2017
No. 16/2/2017-2H5/11.-In pursuance of the Election Commission of India communication No. 437/6/1/
ECI/INST/MCC/2017 dated 4-1-2017, conveyed vide communication No. Elec.-2017/R-Spl-1 dated 5-1-2017
from the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, in respect of application of Model Code of Conduct regarding
General Elections to the Punjab Legislative Assembly, 2017, the Governor of Punjab is pleased to order
the direct that all Officers and Personnel of the Police Department, from the rank of Director General of Police
to that of the Constable shall be deemed to be on deputation to the Election Commission of India since they are
directly or indirectly connected with the management and conduct of the aforesaid Election in terms of section
28 A of the Representation of People Act, 1951 with immediate effect.
2. This shall include, but shall not be limited to the Director General of Police, Additional Director Generals
of Police, Inspector Generals of Police (at the Headquarter as well as in the field), Commissioners of Police,
Deputy Inspector Generals of Police (at the Headquarter as well as in the field), Assistant Inspector Generals
of Police (at the Headquarter as well as in the field), Senior Superintendents of Police, Superintendents of
Police, Sub-Divisional Police Officers like Deputy Superintendents of Police and other Police Officers/Official
such as Inspectors, Sub Inspectors, Assistant Sub Inspectors, Head Constables and Constables.
3. These orders of deputation shall remain in force till the end of the Election process.
