That’s because I’ve had a hip replacement op- eration. In the last few years, I have had increasing difficulty with my right hip. A full replacement operation has now be- come necessary to improve my mobility and ease my current discomfort when walking and standing. The operation will require a recovery period of around six weeks, so I will be recovering at home in the West Country over the month of January. I very much hope to be back and fighting fit in February. My office will still be operating during my recovery so, if constituents have any ques- tions or require any assistance, they should not hesitate to get in touch in the usual way. I wish you all a Happy New Year and I look forward to getting back to doing the job I love. sA VIEWof St Andrew’s Church in Colyton by award-winning local photographer Richard Austin NEIL PARISH NEW YEAR MESSAGE sponsibilities, and I The A303 and A358 NEW YEAR MESSAGE look forward to play- dualling statutory from Yeovil MP ing my part in encour- consultations are from East Devon MP HUGO SWIRE aging our positive under way on the first MARCUS FYSH engagement with sections and funding 2016 was a political to protect the beds in them. is in place. whirlwind; Brexit Sidmouth and Ex- Momentous events election was also un- Domestically and lo- Skills and business was of course the mouth but I have also included the referen- expectedly won by cally 2017 should be development are biggest upheaval of called on the Govern- dum on the European Donald Trump, lead- good for South Somer- things I am working them all, but there ment to impose a Union, where the na- ing many to think US set. hard to enhance on was also the politi- moratorium on the AS 2016 draws to a tion voted to leave, policy may change Fuel duty will con- the back of these im- cally motivated mur- closure of beds until close, we can look and in the Yeovil con- significantly in vari- tinue to be frozen, provements and I am der of Jo Cox, the recently announ- the horse. back over a signifi- stituency there was ous ways. something for which I hopeful that I have the election of the ced fair funding re- In 2017 I will also be cant year for South an overwhelming ma- These events give campaigned, helping succeeded in securing controversial Donald view of social care is looking into fairer Somerset, the nation jority for that result. the UK heightened op- small business and the funding to enable Trump and the terri- funding for our local and the world.
