THE attention of Persons desirous of providing Passages for their Friends from Europe, or wishing to engage Mechanics or Labourers in the United Kingdom, is directed to the following provisions con- tained in "The Immigration Act of 1869." BART. GRAY, Brisbane, 1871. Immigration Agent. REMITTANCE IMMIGRANTS. Persons desirous of procuring Passage Certificates for their friends or relatives in Europe , can do so by remitting to the Immigration Agent , in Brisbane , or to any of the Clerks of Petty Sessions in the Colony , amounts in accordance with the subjoined scale, and signing an undertaking to pay the balance of the Passage Money within twelve months after the arrival in the Colony of such friend or relative ; and upon payment of such undertaking, an order for the selection of Forty Acres of Land will be issued to the nominator if the nominee is over twelve years of age, and for half the quantity if under twelve. Hire of Mechanics, Laborers, &c., in the United Kingdom. Persons wishing to engage mechanics, labourer,s or servants,i n the United Kingdom, for two years' service in the colony, can do so upon appli- cation to the Immigration Agent, in Brisbane, or to any Clerk of Petty Ses- sions in the Colony. Applicants will be required to endorse upon the Un- dertakings given by any mechanics , labourers, or servants , so engaged for the payment of their passage money, computed at the rate of sixteen pounds per statute adult, an undertaking to pay the Government the amount named therein , should default be made in the payment of the same within twenty-four months after the arrival of such mechanics , labourers, or ser- vants in the Colony. And in the eveft of any employer being called upon to pay any of the undertakings endorsed by him, such employer will be en- titled to receive the order for the selection of land to which, unless default had been made, such mechanic , labourer, or servant, would have been en- titled, but without the conditions of residence , &c., imposed upon the Im- migrant. iv.
