WELCOME TO PUBLIC LAND STATISTICS 1997 Welcome to the 1997 edition of Public Land Statistics This . year's edition is virtually identical to last year's document, with two exceptions: Table 3-9 has been expanded into two tables to provide more information on forest product sales, and a new table (5-11) on Wild and Scenic Rivers has been added. Once again this year, Public Land Statistics is available on the Internet. Visit our national homepage online at: http://www. blm. gov/nhp/landfacts/pls97. html Note that the data presented in the 1997 Public Land Statistics tables may not exactly match the data in other BLM publications covering fiscal year 1997 operations and accomplishments. This occurs because the databases that provide table data are not static; they are constantly being updated to provide the latest information, sometimes many months after the end of the fiscal year. We have presented the most current data available in this edition of Public Land Statistics. Your feedback and suggestions are appreciated. We have included a comment card that you can cut out of the document, fold, and mail to our Headquarters Office. Any comments you provide will be used to help make Public Land Statistics as responsive to your needs as possible. We remain committed to publishing a Public Land Statistics each year that is timely, complete, and as helpful as possible to our readers vu
