Becoming Trauma Informed Schools • Trauma-informed is an approach to engaging people with histories of trauma that recognizes the presence of trauma symptoms and acknowledges the role that trauma has played in their lives and on their education. • Being a trauma informed school seeks to change the paradigm from one that asks about a student, "What's wrong with you?" to one that asks, "What has happened to you?" If we don’t look for or acknowledge trauma in the lives of children and adolescents, we end up chasing behaviors and limiting the possibilities for change.
