This year’s Milken Institute Global Conference features 650 speakers on more than 140 panels debating the world’s great issues across 11 program tracks: Aging and Longevity, Education, Energy, Finance, Government, Public Health/Medical Research, Industry, Jobs and Human Capital, Media/Entertainment/Technology, Philanthropy and Regions. As comprehensive as that list may seem, the event’s true range is even broader. There are panels on a wide variety of social issues such as feeding the world’s hungriest regions and addressing the true costs of the obesity epidemic. The CEO of NASCAR will discuss the business of sports shortly before a panel of leading collectors and curators discuss the business of art. Renowned economists will debate the future of the world and its markets while music industry leaders debate the future of rock concerts. You can interact with trailblazing young entrepreneurs and scientists or join sessions on the upsides of aging. Exploring these topics will be current and former heads of state, members of the U.S. Congress, state governors, Giving Pledgers and other philanthropists, CEOs of for-profit and nonprofit enterprises, global institutional investors with $18 trillion in assets, university presidents, ambassadors, heads of federal agencies and hundreds more. As always, Global Conference speakers are asked to challenge each other and offer solutions – not just recite problems. This wide range of issues and expertise provides a frame of reference in the areas that affect your world, your business and your community. We also encourage you to follow your intellectual curiosity wherever it may lead. Many past attendees report that their most meaningful insights came from unexpected places – panels that were outside their day-to-day work and chance discussions with fellow participants. Throughout the Global Conference, you’ll have more opportunities than time to pursue them. With as many as 14 sessions happening simultaneously, it’s impossible to experience the entire event in person. That’s why we post videos and blogs to the Milken Institute website and mobile app, and you can be part of the discussion and share your adventure on Twitter at #2014GC. Thank you for joining us. We wish you a productive and stimulating experience. Michael Milken Michael L.
