BRUCE HARRISON SMITH Most Excellent Grand First Principal — Born Millbridge, Ontario, 8th May, 1904. — Parents Frederick and Elizabeth. — Married September 6, 1936. Wife's name: Helen Neta. One son, Frederick, a student at Albert College, Belleville, Ontario. — Religion Baptist. — Business For the past twenty years he has owned and operated his own business in Belleville, the Uptown Tire & Battery Company. A few years ago he opened a branch store at Marmora, Ontario. Civic Activities- Aldermanforthe City of Bellevillefortheyears 1952-3-4-5; became a member of the Moira River Conservation Au- thority in 1953 and later Chairman from 1955 to 1959. For many years he took a very active interests in sports baseball, hockey, Past President of the Fish and Game Association of Belleville and District. Masonic Record Initiated, Passed and Raised in Eureka Lodge, No. 283, A.F. & A.M., September 13, 1933, Belleville. Charter Member of Temple Lodge, No. 666, Belleville. Exalted in Quinte Friendship Chapter, No. 227, G.R.C., April 23, 1935, Belleville. Became First Principal 1946; elected Grand Scribe N. 1947; elected to the Grand Executive Committee 1949 to 1956, elected Grand H. 1957-58, and Grand First Principal Z. April 29, 1959. His has been a very active life in Royal Arch Masonry. He is the Grand Chapter Representative for the District of Columbia; also a Life Member of St. George's Chapter, No. 5, London, Ontario and a Charter Member of Centennial Chapter, No. 260, Streetsville, On;tario; also a Member of the Order of High Priesthood ofOntario, Member ofKingBaldwin Preceptory, No. 6, Belleville, Member of Rameses Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S., Member of Royal and Select Masters of Ontario, Zabud Council, No. 15, Belleville. In addition to our Grand Z.'s Masonic activities stated above, he is the Secretary-Treasurer of the Masonic Temple Corporation of Belleville, and took a large part in the construction of this splendid building. NOTE:—The Scribes E. of all Chapters were notified by letter. RESOLUTION—RE 25 YEAR PAST PRINCIPAL'S JEWEL OR BAR I hereby give notice that at the next Annual Convocation of Grand Chapter, I will move or cause to be moved to rescind paragraph (3) on page 88 of the Proceedings of 1956, under the heading "25 Year Past Principal's Jewel" of this report, and to restore the 25 Year Past Prin- cipal's Jewel as was presented prior to the adoption of the report. This Resolution was presented to the Executive Committee of Grand Chapter on Saturday, April 26th, 1958, at the Royal York Hotel, Toronto, and it was moved by R. Ex. Comp. Geo. Sheard, seconded by R. Ex. Comp. Chas. Batt that the 25 Year Past Principal's Jewel be restored and all Ex. Companions who have received the 25 Year Bar have same replaced with the 25 Year Jewel formerly used. This Resolution was approved by the Executive Committee and passed on to Grand Chapter Convocation. The foregoing was duly read by the Grand Scribe E. It was moved by R. Ex. Comp. B. H. The Ceremony being concluded, the Most Excellent the Grand First Principal closed Grand Chapter at 10.15 p.m.
