Jane lived in Jamaica, Queens, New York and went to Jamaica High School, where she graduated with honors. She then attended Pratt Institute of Fine Arts. After graduation, she began work as an illustrator in an advertising agency. In 1941 , she married Julius Fenyo. They moved to Freeport, New York, during the fall of 1945, and Jane lived in the same house until she died on July 7, 1983. During her years in Freeport, Jane was active in community life, receiving a commendation from the Board of Education for her work in the P.T.A. She gave freely of her time and artistic and musical talents. Jane was an accomplished musician and played piano for the Chopin Club for many years. She also served as accompanist for the Freeport Chorale and taught piano to adults and children. After the age of 40, Jane returned to school and received in succession her B.A., M.A., & Ph.D. in Eng lish Literature. She taught at C. W. Post College of Long Island University until her retirement in 1980. She served as Chairman of the English Department for several years. Jane wrote fiction, articles, and reviews which were published in 'The Word" (Hofstra College), "Footprints" and the "Post Library Association Report," among others. In 1973, while serving on a university committee at C. W. Post she met Harold Berkman, director of the Academy of Marketing Science. He recognized her multifaceted talents and soon convinced her to take on a new challenge-Editor of the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science. Jane was, in reality a "one person band," she edited manuscripts, corresponded with and encouraged would-be authors, designed Academy brochures, and on occasion to save money even did Journal layouts and paste~ups. Those who have worked with Jane over the years often referred to her as the "Mother of the Academy of Marketing Science." During her retirement years, Jane continued her activities on the Freeport Arts Council as a sponsor, the Athena Club (music), and with the Freeport Family Community Center (a service organization). In spring of 1983, she auditioned for and proudly became a member of the Friday Music Club, for Long Island musicians of professional caliber. Pehaps what those of us who knew her best will most remember is how Jane loved to dance! She was still taking ballet lessons in 1983 and often went folk dancing. She is survived by three children, Katherine, Roger and Marc. SHE WILL BE SORELY MISSED BY ALL! v 1984 CONFERENCE COMMITTEE Roger L. Jenkins, Conference Chairperson Venkatakrishna V.
