GRAND MASTER A BRIEF BIOGRAPHY OF OUR GRAND MASTER M.W. Bro. Garry Dowling was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he graduated from the University ofManitoba with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in 1969. HemarriedtheformerWendyWilsoninWinnipegin 1969andshortlyafter theymovedtoLondon, On. andhavelivedthereeversince. Theyhavetwo children, a son Christopher and partner Sharon, living and working in Toronto, and daughter Deanna, son-in-law Ryan and grandson Lawson living in Ottawa. Garry and Wendy are members of Riverside United Churchandhaveservedasboth servingeldersandvisitingelders formany years. He has participated in the London Community with service to Scouts Canadaforanumberofyearsandalsospentmanyyearsservingasacoach, referee and Committee Chairman in the Oakridge Optimist minor Soccer program. HewasemployedasaBusinessSystemsAnalystintheinformationsystems field, until his retirement in September of2009. GarryisaLifeMemberofKilwinningLodgeNo. 64, havingbeeninitiated in 1979. He served as Worshipful Master in 1987. He was proud to serve London East as District Deputy Grand Master in 1994-1995. After his term as DDGM, he served for several years on both the Grand LodgeLongRangePlanningCommittee andthe Seminars andWorkshops Committee. He was appointed to the Board ofGeneral Purposes in 1997 and elected to a two year term in 1998. He served as a member of the DDGM Orientation team for several years. He served as Chairman of Masonic Education from 1999 to 2001 and as Chairman ofthe Condition ofMasonry Committee from 2001-2003. InJuly2003, hewas appointeda memberoftheManagementCommitteeandservedonthatcommitteefrom 2003 until July of2009. Garry was elected as Deputy Grand Master in July 2009. M.W. Bro. Dowling has served as the Grand Representative ofthe Grand Lodge ofNew Hampshire near our Grand Lodge since July 2000. He is an Honorary Life Member of Doric Lodge 289, a member ofthe London Lodge of Perfection, London Sovereign Chapter Rose Croix, Moore SovereignConsistory andtheMochaTempleAlumniUnit. Hewas coronetedanHonouraryInspector-General33 degreesinMonctoninSept. 2010. He is also a member ofSt. John's and St. George's Chapter No. 3 Royal Arch Masons.
