In 1985, 1 started clipping cartoons from the Manila Bulletin, hoping
to learn’ Tagalog and acquire soome insight ilo Fllipino perspectives
fon contemporary events. Since thea, { have clipped hundreds of
cartoons but Cra afraid ay Tagalog ig still at the beginning stages.

Whea I joiued the Peace Corps staff I was able to bestow the idea ow
the ‘Training Unit and through the hard work of Paz Seman and her
colleagues and consultants, lessons have faien shape. In due time,
they are to be accompanied by @ glossary and a grammar sketch.

L hope these materials will be a way for many people to learn

Tagalog and to gain an insight into Filipino attitudes, values and
