Sweden intends to send one corvette to the UNIFIL naval component. Themissionisbeingcarriedoutwithinthe frameworkofSecurityCouncilresolution1701,which emphasisestheimportanceoftheLebanese governmentrestoringsovereigntyoverthewholeofits territory.TheResolutionestablishesthatareinforcedUNIFIListosupportLebanon'sgovernment in securingthecountry'sbordersandpreventingthe importofweaponsorthelikethathavenot beenapprovedbythegovernment. Theprojectaimsatdestroyingsmallarmsandlightweaponsandconventionalammunition, increasingsecurityinthehandling,storinganddocumentationofthematerial,andbuildinga nationalcapabilityfordealingwiththeseactivitiesinthefuture. TheprojectisledandadministeredbytheOSCEMissioninDushanbeincooperationwithTajik authorities.TheMissionreportstotheOSCEForumforSecurityCooperationinVienna,whereall participatingOSCEstatesarerepresented.Sweden'srepresentativeattheForumforSecurity Cooperation,ColonelClaesNilsson,iscoordinatorfortheOSCElightweaponsprojectin2005and 2006.
